| On The Air - Finding Hooters |
The following "On the Air" is a humorous give an take between approach and a pilot:
I recently flew a photographer to get some aerial shots of a pending condo development on Panama City Beach, Fla. He only had a street number, which was not very helpful at 1000 feet. We were getting flight following so I took a long shot:
Me: "Tyndall Approach, Cessna Four Five Six, our next photo shot is supposed to be across the street from Hooters. Can you tell us if that is to the east or west of our position?"
Tyndall Approach: "Cessna Four Five Six, we don’t have Hooters marked on our display."
Me: "Understand Tyndall, and it is really a shame but it is not on my chart either."
Tyndall Approach: (about 30 seconds later) "Cessna Four Five Six, I’m told that Hooters is about one mile east of your current location."
Me: (another 15 seconds) "Roger, Tyndall, we have Hooters in sight now; thanks for your help."
