House OKs higher age limit for pilots
U.S. airline pilots' mandatory retirement age would rise to 65 from 60 under legislation approved Tuesday by the House of Representatives.

The vote increases chances that the change will be enacted, because it has been separated from budget proposals that have stalled.

Under the bill, the retirement age would be raised on international flights if another pilot in the cockpit is under 60. On domestic flights, both pilots could be 60 to 65.

Tuesday's House vote sends the bill to the Senate for consideration. The Senate backed age-65 retirement on Sept. 12 as part of a transportation budget bill that has stalled.
