Pilot killed in Bangkok plane crash
Pilot of a Bangkok Airways plane was killed after the aircraft crashed at a resort island in Thailand. 37 people have been injured, officials said Wednesday.

"The ATR-72 turboprop was carrying 68 people and 4 crew members. It skidded and then crashed after landing at Koh Samui airport," said a top official at the civil aviation department.

"The pilot has been killed and 7 of the 37 injured, are critical" he added.

The plane took off from the town of Krabi on the west coast Thailand for its trip to the resort island of Koh Samui.

Air traffic control warned the pilot of volatile winds before the plane landed, aviation officials said.
