| Enormous cargo blamed for Benin crash |

A probe into a plane crash that killed about 140 people in Benin last year has concluded the jet was overloaded. Investigators found the plane was carrying about 10 tones of excess cargo, a Benin official told stated.
The chartered plane bound for Lebanon went down after taking off from Benin's main city, Cotonou, on Christmas Day. Most of the passengers and victims were Lebanese nationals returning home for the holidays.
The investigation was carried out by the French Bureau of Inquiry and Analysis. "After analyzing the data, the initial technical results... show that the aircraft was overloaded," said an official on the committee.
"The aircraft was too heavy and the weight was badly distributed," the official added. He said the inquiry was continuing and full results would be made public in the coming months.
